Today, I want to talk about research. Yeah, I know, you’re not a scientist or doctor, but even as a “couch potato” knitter research is a useful tool, and it’s far easier than it used to be. You used to have to go to the library to get information – now you can go to the computer! All you need to do is go to your favorite search engine (Google, Yahoo, whichever), put in the words “free knitting pattern” along with whatever type of article you want to make (hat, afghan, scarf, whatever) and the search engine will give you the top locations to find free patterns. It’s that simple! You are bound to find more sites than you can browse, and you are almost certain to find something close to what you want. Then with a little experience you can alter whatever you might find to suit you!

For me, the greatest honor was that she decided I would make an interesting interview subject! If you are interested in getting some information about the interview, go to this link: http://knittingforprofit.com/blog/a-real-knitting-income-story/

Soon, a transcript and mp3 of the interview will be available. When it is, I will be certain to post it!

Have a blessed day!

So, where did I learn to knit? You wouldn’t believe me if I told you! Suffice it to say, my family is my inspiration for everything I do. I’ve learned a lot about knitting from making things for friends and my children (and the occasional item for my dearly beloved). I can promise that there is very little that is as rewarding as seeing someone you care about enjoy something you just decide to begin with a little yarn! But what kind of yarn is the best to start with? Well, obviously you don’t want to start with something expensive or fussy. The truth is, cheap really is the way to go here. A simple, common acrylic yarn like Red Heart or Bernat is fine for a beginner. It’s durable, and the weight is just about perfect for beginning. And did I mention it’s cheap?

Happy knitting!

The way I think about knitting or when someone gives me something hand-made from knitting, I feel like they put to a lot of effort to it. Now if I made something from knitting to give to someone like a scarf or a pair of mittens or a sweater, they would tell me that they think I put a lot of …you got it! Effort. That is what it takes to make something from knitting. Effort! If you want to learn how to knit you need two things…effort and practice, yeah! Effort and practice. Remember the three P’s? Right – practice, practice, and practice.
